I’m fully aware that I am going to get some form of backlash or hate from this letter. And thats ok. Any time a woman asserts herself and voices her opinion, especially one that is undesirable to the ears, she gets perceived as a bitch. But this is something that needs to be said and many…
This is why I haven’t gone back to MFC… I hope to hear that it’s improved some time and that it’ll be worth going back online but the amount of self entitled freeloaders on the site makes me very skeptical of returning!!!
The irony of someone with an Om mandala for a display picture sending me random hate mail… I responded very politely and they claimed to be more enlightened than I’d ever be, seeing as I am apparently a ‘fucking slag’
Wasn’t very good money…. so many girls who are good at hustling and the clubs system was a bit annoying… you had to wait up to 20 mins just to do a lapdance sometimes so it wasted most of my night waiting instead of making money but I had a heap of fun in Adelaide, hung out with some awesome people and got to check out some amazing fringe shows so was a good holiday anyway! Definitely better then sitting in Melbourne making the same money anyway :P I definitely want to do a show at Fringe next year!!!
In the two years Jennifer Hayashi Danns worked as a lap-dancer, she never met a woman who danced sober. Some took cocaine, the rest drank – whether they drove to work or not. At her worst point, Danns would have a bottle of wine before work, half a bottle while getting ready, and drink steadily through her shift. How else, she asks, could she walk up to strangers and ask if they wanted her to take her clothes off?
""One of the biggest misunderstandings is that to look good is enough – I don’t think people have any idea how much you need to hustle," she says. "The men can say yes or no, and one of the extraordinary things is they will list the reasons why. So, they will go: ‘No, your tits aren’t big enough.’"
Fuck this article right off….
‘In the two years Jennifer Hayashi Danns worked as a lap-dancer, she never met a woman who danced sober. ’
FUCKING BULLSHIT. 100% bullshit. Unless she was working in a crack den, this is absolute rubbish.
‘The often-rehearsed idea that lap-dancing can be empowering, or make women feel beautiful is nonsense, says Danns, when explicit insults are common.’
Personal opinion from someone not suited to the industry. I feel empowered and beautiful and no one can tell me otherwise. I rarely get insulted, far far less than in any hospitality job I’ve ever had.
‘Then she found herself struggling to make a profit after her £80 house fee. “When the money dropped,” she writes, “so did my personal standards … I went to other clubs where I performed full strip. The first time I pulled my knickers down I felt my soul fall out.”’
She should have quit the industry, someone crossing their personal lines is in no way a reflection on the industry. She kept going after she felt like this? That’s like staying in any other job after your boss has humiliated you and decided to stop paying you.
‘Danns says the emphasis was always on women’s submission and anything that marked her as an equal, from education to age, would be hidden. “It’s about power and you play into that.”’
Women are dominant in clubs, we approach the men, hustle them and take their money. Sure some guys don’t like the smarter chicks because of their own insecurities but honestly that’s not a majority reflection.
